Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has never seized taking position on the hard side, regardless of the amount of trolls, attacks and criticism, or maybe insults that will be directed at him from as many people as possible. Once he considers a position right and a necessity, then he throws his weight behind it, hence the reason he has earned a reputation as one of the most criticized personality in the present day entertainment industry.

The fearless actor this time around has criticized his colleagues in the movie industry for the sort of movies they make, especially their storyline. He’s not really happy with the level of copying in the industry, particularly how his colleagues tend to force themselves to replicate what the white people are doing or have done, neglecting the richness in their own thing.

“We must never forget this; no matter how much we copy oyibo, we no be oyibo, we can never do their thing better than them. The only thing we can do better than Themis our own thing. Let’s tell more of Nigerian stories. Let’s show more of our culture & tradition in our stories,” he wrote.

Though some people have reacted to the post, with many of them berating the actor for the kind of movies he does most of the time, which basically are blood money ritual movies, and asked how does that represent the culture of our people.

Few comments we captured can be seen below…

Funny enough, Yul Edochie seems to be making a wild assertion, yes, because Nollywood has basically been centered around the Nigerian stories, and I can’t possibly count much films from Nollywood which tends to glorify foreign culture or the so called oyibo people according to Yul Edochie.

It would have made more sense if he had pointed those areas he’s actually talking about, because as it stands now, he’s only beating around the corner. Yes, because I can’t really comprehend what he actually meant by the fact that Nollywood is copying the white people, in what area? How many films produced in Nollywood is guilty of such wild accusation?
