On Sunday August 11, 2024, a viral video which circulated across social media platforms and beyond showed an angry Nigerian wife publicly destroyed her husband’s international passport.
The woman was seen tear the said international passport into pieces, throwing the pieces to the floor as she snatched her kids from the man, and walked away with no show of remorse.
Well, she may have gotten herself into a big trouble at last, as the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has taken up the matter. In a press statement released by the office of the public relations officer, DCI KT Udo, the organization has begun investigation into the matter, with the possibility of her facing trial in the end.
According to the statement, the investigation was ordered by the Controller General of Immigration Service, KN Nandap, and the culprit who is now identified as Mrs. Favour Igiebor be invited for further investigation.
And once it is proven she actually committed the offence, then her actions would have breached section 10(b) of the immigration act of 2015 as amended. And the subsequent penalty is contained in the section 10(h) of same act.

In one of the platforms were the video was shared, precisely on the Instagram page of Gossipmill Naija, veteran Nollywood movie director and actor, Ugezu J Ugezu called for sanctions against her action, as that can only be tolerated in Nigeria, more especially in the presence of Immigration officers at the Lagos international airport.
