We all have witnessed from time immemorial the rot and evil plague that has bedeviled our country, and with seemingly no hope in sight regards things ever changing for the better.
Meanwhile, in the past few days we have seen the drama involving popular social media sensation and rights activist, Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as Very Dark BlackMan, VDM, controversial Nigerian Cross Dresser, Bobrisky, the Falanas and others.
Sadly, while what was alleged in the leaked audio taping is the height of national embarrassment that can face any country, but look how the matter is being treated as though we are talking about the case of a petty thief who stole a sachet of powdered milk in the market place.
The most heartbreaking thing in the whole matter is how the person who exposed the evil instantly became the villain. Many people left the subject matter and started attacking VDM, accusing him of defaming those mentioned in the audio taping. That’s the kind of country we have here, and that’s why we have not moved past our predicaments for decades.
While we may admit that VDM is not perfect, and has equally made mistakes at times and in his manner of presenting issues, but that shouldn’t be the ground upon which we confront the issues raised in the leaked audio.
Now look at what played out today during the public hearing at the House of Representatives chamber today September 30. Other parties were absent, including Bobrisky, yet it was VDM who made himself available that was being attacked and even threatened to be arrested by the police.
They were not even bothered that other parties to the matter clearly snubbed the invitation by them, but it was the man who made himself available that became the devil in town.
VDM for the past few months have come under serious attacks and social media trolling for simply exposing certain evil in the society. And even the common Nigerians who he’s fighting for are among those fighting him.
Go to the social media platforms and see what he’s facing since he published the audio taping in question. That’s why most of us have focused on the talk of defamation rather than the vital issues exposed in the leaked audio. That will tell how you the kind of people we have in this country as citizens.
If it was in a sane and serious country that this was happening, I bet you no body would even be talking about defamation for now, but the evil he exposed. But no, we are not interested in the message, but we only want the messenger dead at all cost.
Take a look at the founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Yele Sowore, how he was abused left, right and center. What was his sin? That he was fighting the evil in the system. He became one of the most hated personality in the country till date, just visit his social media platforms and see how he’s been insulted and abused by the people he has been staking his life for their sake.
Nigerians deserve the country they have, and they deserve the kind of leaders they have. So, stop wasting your time, energy and resources in the name of fighting for these people because they do not deserve it. Allow them to continue with their journey of suffering and smiling, they already love it more than that your intention of fighting for a better country for them.
Let me tell you about a typical Nigerian; a typical Nigerian only sees evil in a situation that doesn’t relate to his or her favorite personality or celebrity, but once it has to do with their favourite, then it doesn’t matter. And you who is at the forefront of the fight becomes their enemy and villain. They will abandon the issues raised, then focus on you who has done nothing bad.
In other words, if their favorite murders Mr. B, it is not evil, and you who want to fight for the murdered person automatically becomes an enemy. It only becomes a sin once it has nothing to do with their favourite person or celebrity.
And is it this kind of biased souls you want to stake your life, time, energy and resources for their sake? Think twice before you embark on such adventure!
On the other hand, have you thought of the cabal you are confronting? These are evil cabals scattered across every corner of the country, and goes beyond political party, religious and ethnic background or affiliations. They are one when it bothers on their evil and selfish interest, and that’s were you will know that the issue of religious, ethnic and party differences are only applicable to the poor masses and not for these elite cabals.
We all saw the nonchalant attitude displayed by the lawmakers on Monday, over a serious matter like this one. That alone should inform you better about what you will face in such an adventure.
Then remember so many cases that were exposed in the past and what eventually became of such cases? You remember when snake swallowed millions, when monkey swallowed millions? When thugs invaded the same National Assembly with all the security agents present, and made away with the mace in a broad day light? What happened? Nothing!
You remember countless corruption cases involving politicians, you remember the case involving the former EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu? You remember several times thugs destroys election materials during elections, nothing happened. The list is endless, so that should equally remind you about the kind of country you want to stake your life, and other things for.
