Yesterday Saturday October 5, 2024, was a memorable day in Warri, Delta State as Nigerian music star, Davido paid a courtesy call to the magnificent Palace of the Olu of Warri.
He was in the company of his close friends and associates like Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest. Meanwhile, the singer’s outfit to visit the highly respected and revered Monarch became a social media debate.
And veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle has berated the singer for his choice of outfit to the Palace, and according to his exact words; “is this appropriate dressing to visit the Palace of a King the calibre of the Olu of Warri?”.
The reaction from the actor has set him up for serious dragging on social media, and I guess at his level he shouldn’t get himself involved in such social media discussions.
Frankly he has no business with what Davido wore to visit the Olu of Warri in his palace, it is the duty of the Palace to either release a statement in that regard, or issue their dressing code to those intending to visit the Monarch in his palace.
Yes, because they must have written to the Palace, making known their intention to visit the Monarch, and it was at such time that the dress code should have been communicated to them.
If the Palace didn’t react to the issue nor release a public statement in that regard, then it is of no business to anyone else to do so. Patrick Doyle is not just a regular person, but a big brand in the country and shouldn’t ‘impulsively’ jump into any matter or discussion because others are doing same.
There are lots of issues in the country deserving and craving of his attention and not this sort. His continued indulgence into such issues will continue to set him up for social media dragging by fans of these celebrities, who do not care about the age or personality of who they are attacking online.
