Veteran Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko have initial plan of staging a big party to mark his 70th birthday on birthday, but the prevailing economic circumstances in the country have posed a stumbling block to that idea.
The actor made this known via his verified Instagram handle, were he stated that though he loved the idea of staging the party to celebrate his 70th birthday, hence appreciating all those behind the idea, as a way of celebrating him for all his contributions to the growth of the movie and entertainment industry.
But looking at the condition of things in the country at the moment which has subjected millions of people to diverse range of suffering and hardship. And expressed hope that soon, these challenges facing the country will be over and happiness will return to the country once again.
“I want to use this opportunity to offer my sincere appreciation to my colleagues who came up with the idea of celebrating me for my contributions to industry growth and development,” he wrote.
Then added, “I have discussed this with them, and they reasoned, that the celebration should be put on hold, basically because of the current situation in the country and what the people are going through.
I am very sure that very soon, the challenges facing the country will be over, and we will all be happy for it”.
The actor is a staunch supporter of the incumbent President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Meanwhile, he has equally faced lots of backlashes from Nigerians in recent times, basically over worsening economic situation in the country.
Jide Kosoko remains a pioneering member of the country’s movie industry, with an indelible legacies achieved over several decades of hardwork, dedication and consistency. He has gone ahead to feature in dozens of movies which includes Atinga, Merry Men, The Real Yoruba Demons, A Bag of Trouble, and many more.
