Wednesday, February 7, 2024 will forever remain a very memorable day in the lives of many Nigerians, of which caught across both sweet and bitter memories. On the sweet side, how Nigerian team defeated perennial rivals, Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a tension soaked encounter to qualify for the final of this year’s African Cup of Nations, AFCON. While on the bitter side, of how we lost some beautiful souls in the course of the football game.

So far, it has been reported that four Nigerians died in the course of the football match, in different parts. But most people do not really know about the Nigerian business mogul based in the host country of the current African Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast. Well, his name is Chief Nwoye Osondu Angus based in the capital of Ivory Coast, Abidjan. He’s reportedly one of the earliest businessmen from Nigerian who arrived Ivory Coast, as such, has lived in the country for decades.

Chief Nwoye is a well known and respected business mogul and philanthropist, though majors in spare parts and until his death was the President and Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Groupe Auto Promoting in Cote D’Ivoire and equally a major force in the real estate sector.

One of the endearing part of the deceased is the fact that he has a large heart, and can’t really stop how helps a lot of people, hence why he set up a well running charity organization known as Angus Osondu Nwoye Foundation. And as a lover of football, he has been a strong supporter of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, especially this AFCON, as he is always seen in the stadium during Super Eagles games.

A visit to the Facebook page of his foundation, you will be extremely marvelled at the great philanthropic works he has been doing with his foundation. Through his foundation, he has ensured that thousands of school children are not denied the opportunity to be educated as a result of no school fees, as he has been paying the school fees of many for years now.

Just like he has been doing for school children, same way he has been doing for different group of economically disadvantaged people across different parts of the country, including widows. I have seen several of his posts, were he was demanding widows to drop their account details under the post for a quick crediting.

Surprisingly, he’s from a polygamous family of about fourteen children, and sadly, his own mother died while he was still very tender with his other siblings from same mother, as revealed in one of his posts, and he was able to rise through those hurdles and today, he’s multi wealthy. He made it clear while alive, that he has set out to helping to lift as many people as possible out of poverty.

Recall that while Obi Cubana and his entourage were in Ivory Coast few days to watch one of the Super Eagles games, Chief Nwoye hosted them in his house, and ensured his guests left happy and satisfied. That’s the kind of man he’s, who is always caring for everyone, the rich or the poor, all have equal stake in his world of hospitality and philanthropism.

May your beautiful soul continue to rest in peace Chief 🙏
