Few days ago, we all were greeted with the heartbreaking story about one of Nigeria’s finest musical talents, Solidstar, of which an accompanying video footage shows the multiple music hits crooner roaming the street in a pathetic manner and unusual state of life. Expectedly, many people poured out their hearts regards the matter, including calling out a couple of notable personalities, both within and outside the music/entertainment industry to come to his aid as quick as possible.

In the face of the entire ugly situation, another dimension was added to the story, with the singer’s alleged brother, identified as Joseph came into the picture, making a couple of startling revelations, including that his brother Solidstar is into hard drugs which has affected him adversely, including the fact that his music career was fast moving backwards, which all combined forces to keep the singer in his current state of life, but thanks to God almighty as same source made it known also that he’s currently checked into a rehab, and that he’s responding well to treatment.

Meanwhile, Joseph also made it known that except DJ Neptune who called once to ask about Solidstar’s health situation, and comedian Isoko Boy, who he said has shown real support, else none of his colleagues has turned up for him at the time he needs them the most. I have seen lots of counter comments, citing that it is not mandatory for people to come to help you in your times of trouble. Well, whoever holds such mindset is not wrong, but is that the best way of life? Where’s the humanity in us?

Its so unfortunate that the humanity in most people no longer exist in them, else, how can one be so comfortable and careless about the plights of his brother, whether family related or career related, and all you could think of is how did he spent/managed all the money he earned in the course of his successful music career? God! This young man needs our help and not for us to lay his matter bare on the table and begin to dissect it, left, right and center.

He may have made one or two financial mistakes or not, but at this juncture that’s not what he deserves from people, especially in a world were he has actually blessed millions of souls and lives with his musical talent. As such, By this time, I expected to have seen many of his colleagues in the industry to have come forward to help their fallen colleague as much as they can, but unfortunately my expectations from them were brutally killed.

This is not just about Solidstar, but it is increasingly becoming a deeply rooted norm and tradition in the industry, and such doesn’t speak any good of the industry. Sadly, not as though these people are poor or are in lack of economic means of life, but they just decide to neglect whatever problem others have, obviously giving you the attitude which perfectly portrays the impression that “it doesn’t concern me at all”. Is this what we call life? These are people who lavish millions at clubs, events, etc, just for social media validation, but same people cannot look the direction of their colleague in dire need of help, dying gradually but steadily.

Conclusively, in as much as the fact remains that no one has the right to dictate to you how you spend your money or who to spend it on. But the fact equally remains that the world is in an interdependent existence, as such, there’s no way we can actually succeed in trying to forge a different front, it will always have a fatal crash in the end.

Let those in the entertainment industry be sincere to themselves, change their attitude towards one another. Not when the person eventually departs the world, you won’t let us hear word with you tributes, sharing of photos of the deceased across different social media. Sorry to disappoint you, this is rubbish, total nonsense and madness. The love you are showing to a dead person is useless and a total waste of your time. Same person you see as a disease that must be avoided at all cost, and once you hear about his/her death, then you instantly develop love and likeness for the deceased – Hypocrisy at it’s peak!!!
