A certain teen boy between age 14-15, identified as Okechukwu Wisdom Ibe was reportedly rejected by the police at 9th mile division, Udi LGA, Enugu state as he was found at a lonely place and returned to the police.
The boy in question is said to have been abandoned by his mother after her husband went blind, according to those who said to know the boy’s story very well.
Meanwhile, after the boy was found at the popular Ugwu Onyeama (Onyeama Hill) at Ngwo, Udi LGA, he was taken to several places in a bid to locate his parents/guardians. After a fruitless adventure, those who picked him up decided to take him to 9th mile Police station, unfortunately the boy was rejected by the Police.
Meanwhile, several persons attested to knowing the boy and his family very well. They identified the father as one Mazi Ibe from Imo State, and that they used to live at Obiagu. But that the man is no longer seen there, while the wife, being the mother of the boy, has ran away after her husband got blind.
From the stories at our disposable, it is obvious the young boy has been living in the streets for since only God knows when. And what is the fate of this young boy if he continues to live this way? Please there’s an urgent need for Government to step into this matter urgently.
