Tagged one of the biggest movies ever to have come out of Africa…

It is good a thing that Africa is once again gradually understanding the power of regional collaboration and partnership in different spheres of business adventures, especially in the entertainment industry. And one of such industry which has benefited immensely from such is the movie industry, precisely Nollywood and Ghallywood.

In the spirit of the aforementioned, some of our big names in Nollywood were recently in Ghana for a big movie project titled “A Country Called Ghana”. The movie which is produced by Kwado Nkansah Lilwin and Directed by Frank Fiifi Gharbin has veterans like Ramsey Noah, Charles Awurum, Victor Osuagwu, others on the cast list.

Meanwhile, Charles and Victor Osuagwu were seen enjoying one of Ghana’s popular local delicacies identified as “Washiee”

Such partnership has in recent years birthed great talents in the industry, of which the list of those whose names fall into the category is long, and most of us are equally aware of the names and faces. It is such a heart warming efforts that deserves to be encouraged, supported and emulated by every Pan-African individuals.

Funny enough, we have seen an increased bickering and bantering between Nigerians and Ghanaians across social media platforms in recent years. This includes amongst even the celebrities themselves, mostly within the music industry and in the football sector. Yet, the duo remains the most united amongst other African countries when it comes to business collaboration, precisely in the entertainment industry.

No doubt, it is this great business collaboration between the two countries that paved the way to the top for some industry greats, both in the music and movie industry. And such need to be extended beyond just the two countries, because I’m so certain this will give rise to hundreds of other talents, and as such, benefiting the continent in a huge and diverse ways.

It was unfortunate that it was at the time the movie was being shot that we lost one of the greatest actors in the African movie and entertainment industry, in the person on late John Okafor A.K.A Mr. Ibu. And according to veteran Nollywood actor, Charles Awurum a minute silence was observed in his honour, they equally suspended production/filming for about two days.

“One minute silence for Ibu in Ghana,” he wrote via his verified Instagram handle, as he shared video of the a minute silence in Mr. Ibu’s honour.

In conclusion, while we encourage for competition among African countries, it must be a healthy competition that will in the end, give birth to great innovation, expansion, growth, development, etc. Yes, not the sort that aims to bastardize the success and achievement of the other people, and we must take a leave from what Nollywood and Ghallywood have been doing in recent years.
