Yahaya Bello was seen arriving the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday September 18, 2024, after months of being on the run.
He was seen arriving the EFCC office with his successor, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State. Meanwhile, this comes after he was declared wanted months ago for alleged money laundering, breach of public trust and misappropriation of the sum of about 80 billion Naira during his Eight Year tenure as Governor of Kogi State.
During the last attempt to arrest him at his Abuja residence immediately after the end of his tenure, the exercise ended in futility as he was alleged to have escaped through the help of his successor Governor Usman Ododo who stormed the residence of the ex Governor and whisked him away amid tight security.
And since then, he has remained elusive and without a trace to his whereabout, and was eventually placed on red alert by security agents in the country. So, it came as a huge shock when news broke out today that he has finally surrendered himself to the country’s anti graft agency.
