We have continued to witness different dimensions to the aftermath of the death of fast rising Nigerian musician, Ifeoluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, with one of the most recent being the petition launched on Change dot org, seeking to force the immediate ban of Naira Marley’s music label, Marlian Music.
Surprisingly, the petition launched by popular and controversial blogging platform, Gistlovers, on September 15, 2023 with the tag “Ban Marlian Music” has garnered close to two hundred thousand (200,000) signatures which have quickly endorsed the petition.
The petition is equally calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mohbad, including alleged threats to his life while he was alive, attempts to physically assault him, damages to his properties worth millions of Naira.
Further, the petition made some allegations against Sam Larry, Naira Marley and his now beleaguered Music label, citing drug related activities ongoing in the record label. The petition alleged that the duo mentioned above are in the position to account for the unfortunate incident involving Mohbad.
Recall that a certain video footage has been trending across social media platforms, which captured the moment Sam Larry led some other boys to the set of a music video being shot by Mohbad, alongside Zlatan Ibile, who eventually intervened in the ensuing fracas, giving Mohbad the opportunity to escape as he scampered to safety, reportedly.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian police authority has promised to carry out a diligent investigation into the death of the singer. This is coming after they were seriously slammed by Nigerians for failing to act when the deceased had petitioned them sometime in June 2023, alleging threats to his life, assault, damages to his properties, amongst other things listed in the petition which recently surfaced online.
On the other hand, people have condemned the manner in which such a big name was hurriedly buried, lamenting that Mohbad deserves a befitting burial ceremony, which was equally echoed by Naira Marley in his reaction to the death of the singer.
