German Bundesliga top-flight club, RB Leipzig has heaped praises on their wonder man, Lois Openda, following his heroic performance against English Premier League giant, Manchester City, during their Champions League clash last night at the Etihad stadium.
This comes as the Leipzig warns potential suitors for the 23 year old striker to stay away from him, as he’s not definitely up for sale anytime soon. Openda was on fire last night, especially during the first half were he scored two goals against a dreaded Pep Guardiola’s side, proving once again that he truly merited the £38.95m RB Leipzig record signing, who has surprisingly pushed out former Chelsea FC forward, Timo Werner, out of Marco Rose’s side.
Worthy to mention is the fact that this young talent only joined Leipzig from Lens in the last summer, and has since given performances that has attracted the eyes of Europe elites clubs, hence the reason Leipzig is already letting everyone know that he’s not for sale, at least for now. And it is not something new that Leipzig has seemingly become the best destination for many big clubs to shop for great football talents.
Openda’s current coach at Leipzig, Rose, is of the opinion that the 23-year-old would benefit more if he ward off distractive interests from all these preying clubs, and focus on building his career at Leipzig, in other words, Openda is not available in the transfer market, at least for the time being.
“I think he stays a little bit longer, that is what I hope. He only just came to Leipzig,” his coach said after their last night game in England against Manchester City.
“He is physically strong, we saw today, he is fast, he is able to score. He can still improve a lot of things but we had really good scouting in the summer and we like him,” he equally added.
The coach went further to state that Leipzig is a good ground for such young talents like Openda. He equally stated that being in the Champions League is a big attraction for most big players, of which Leipzig is often playing in the Champions League, of which is something Openda cherishes so much. He then added, that Pep Guardiola was obviously impressed with the performances of Openda, but maintaining that he already has Erling Haaland.
