Nigerian singer and the “Holy Ghost Fire” crooner, Omah Lay made a shocking revelation in a recent podcast interview session, and it has left many wondering who could that be.
According to him, he shared a musical idea with this respected colleague of his in the music industry, only for the person to steal the idea, went behind him to use the same idea to record his own music album.
Though left stranded at that moment, he had to go back to the drawing board to come up with another idea for his own music album.
In his exact words; “I shared an idea with a certain artiste, & the artiste went ahead to put out an album with my idea. I had to go back to re-record my own album”.
Further, he stated how he had wanted to do a music project with this anonymous musician in the industry, hence why he decided to share the idea with him. Sadly, about five months later, the artists had come out with a music project with all the ideas he shared with him.
“I had this idea to do something with a particular sound. I shared the idea with this artiste, whom I really love for sure. I told him, ‘Let’s collaborate…”
“This sound I’m sharing with you is where I’m heading with Afrobeats. I think this is the way.’ 5 months later, he put out an album with exactly all the same sounds I shared with him. I had to go back & remake my album,” he concluded.
While many people have continued to react to the story, some have actually urged him to be bold enough to name this artist, to ensure others learn from it and not fall victim like himself.
On the other hand, he was blamed for sharing his ideas with some else when he wasn’t ready yet to get to work, as five whole months is quite a long time for him to keep waiting while he has already let out his great ideas.
Some have asked, “could it be Rema… abi na Victony?” Well, we have no clue yet, and as such, we let our fingers crossed for now.
