Actress Adunni Ade has come out to make known one of the predicaments she has suffered in the journey of her acting career in Nollywood.
The Nigerian-Irish born actress lamented how her skin tone has impacted her acting career in Nollywood, citing how it has posed a stumbling block towards fully actualizing her potentials in Nollywood.
According to her, it was what actually pushed her into becoming a filmmaker and producer, as her way of fighting what she had suffered in the industry; the discrimination against her skin texture.
She made it known that she doesn’t care about the skin colour of her casts, or anyone, as long as the actor can interpret roles perfectly, then she is good to go with the actor.
“Because I wasn’t getting the roles that I wanted, it pushed me into filmmaking. And one of the core things I said I would never do is cast someone based on their colour,” she said during an interview.
Continuing, she added, “Everybody, anybody, as long as you’re human, you will always have a chance on my set. As long as you can interpret the character, I will give you a shot”.
