Many people, especially Nigerians were deeply shocked to hear about the unexpected crisis rocking the enviable marriage of popular Nigerian comedian, actor and entertainer, Ayodeji Richard Makun, known on the stage as AY comedian. Even to the extent that the duo have reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram, and possibly on other of their respective social media platforms.
This is coming shortly after AY’s wife, Mabel Makun had alleged threat to her life and equally being subjected to mental abuse for a long time, possibly in the hands of her celebrity husband.
While people were still trying to assimilate the news and shock, and equally questioning why marriages, especially that of Nigerian celebrities don’t last, some others are on an entirely different page on this matter. To these group of people, they alleged that there’s actually no crisis in their marriage, that they are only adopting that strategy just to promote their upcoming movie project titled “Merry Men 3”.
On the other hand, some even went as far as claiming that the recent height achieved by Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele with her movie called “A Tribe Called Judah” has put most of her colleagues on a hot seat as they are doing everything they can, just to measure up to Funke’s achievement, of which they linked AY to that category of people.
“just announce the movie make we rest,” @kizbrizzy commented.
“Merry Men just came out and she’s talking about mental abuse. Movie promotion,” @rosythrone said as well.
“big lie, I know for sure they are not fighting, she wants people to go and watch Merry Men on Netflix ni,” @iamqueenfola wrote.
“shey una wan make we watch Merry Men niii? Talk true,” @Seun_dreams remarked.
“you people and nonsense promotion. I will still not watch it,” @yellowshugabae commented.
“no wish ill luck on your marriage coz you want promote movie. Finger crossed,” @nyinyechi0 said also.

In as much as there is no evidence to back up the claims made by people over this issue, the truth might not be far fetched because many celebrities world over are known for pulling such media stunts just to promote or give adequate attention to their upcoming project, most especially musicians and filmmakers/producers. Unfortunately, many Nigerians in the entertainment industry have equally fully adopted same idea/ideology of promoting their new project.
On the other hand, Funke Akindele’s “A Tribe Called Judah” has actually become a new standard set in the industry, as such, it is very likely that many other filmmakers and producers will be obsessed on how to either reach or surpass that height.
