Since Cubana Chiefpriest was granted bail to the tone of ten million Naira (10,000,000) today after he was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for abuse of the Naira, I have seen lots of Nigerians lament the power of money and connection.
Some wondered if its not the same offence that landed Bobrisky about six months imprisonment, as such, why was Chiefpriest Granted Bail and not sent to jail. It only sounded so funny to me how many of my country people don’t really understand how court process works.
Well, to answer their important question, the case is the same both for Bobrisky and Cubana Chiefpriest. The only difference at the moment is the legal strategy applied by both parties.
While the Nigerian cross dresser and Transgender, Bobrisky saved himself the stress of a lengthy trial, hence pleading guilty during his arraignment, and hoping as a first time offender that he will get a lenient sentencing, maybe the Judge going for the option of fine which is 50 thousand Naira instead of the six months jail term. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for him as planned or anticipated.
Cubana Chiefpriest on the other hand is ready to face the rigorous journey of the lengthy trial. Him and his legal team might have learnt some lessons from that of Bobrisky. He refused to plead guilty as Bobrisky did, he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him by EFCC.
Now, he may be willing to go all out to prove that what he was spraying wasn’t real Naira notes, but money props as used in movies. It’s left for both parties to prove their cases.
But one thing you guys should have in mind is that, Cubana Chiefpriest being granted bail is not the end of his case, but just the beginning.
