Football actions have resumed across all major leagues following the end of the international break. With matches already played on Saturday October 19, 2024 a lot has already happened.
And we are going to serve you some of these major footballing that has happened as we return league actions once more. Involving some of your favourite football players and club side.
LUKA MODRIC:
Last night, Saturday October 19, 2024, Luka Modrić made an enviable history when he became Real Madrid’s oldest player to play in an official match for the reigning Laliga Champions.
At the age of 39 years and 40 days, Modric has now officially surpassed the age long records of Puskás made in 1966. And after the game against Celta Virgo which Real Madrid won 1-2 away from home, Modric had this to say;
“I’m proud to be part of Real Madrid history being the oldest player and winning the most titles. I’m proud and happy to have achieved all these things with Real Madrid.”
This was same Luka Modrić who left Tottenham in 2012, and had not won a trophy in Europe’s top 5 leagues. Fast forward to 12 years later, he has now become Real Madrid’s most decorated player of all time.
HARRY KANE:
The England captain seems to be having the best moments of his life and career since his transfer from Spurs to Bayern Munich. Well, it’s another day with another fantastic hat trick for him.
So far this season, he has netted thirteen (13) goals in ten (10) games for his new club, but he has now scored his third hat trick this season in two months.
VICTOR OSIMHEN:
The Super Eagles of Nigeria hitman has continued to prove to the world why he’s undoubtedly one of the few top class strikers in the world. With his world class bicycle kick goal on Saturday.
Osimhen has so far in his bag, seven (7) goal contributions in just five games for Galatasaray since joining them this season.
Frankly, Galatasaray made one of their best football decisions by bringing Osimhen to the club, and he’s equally rewarding them for believing in him.
LIONEL MESSI:
The former Barcelona playmaker was barely ten minutes on the pitch for Inter Miami when he made both an assist and his second hat trick in five days.
He now has 20 goals and 10 breathtaking assists in 19 games for Inter Miami (MLS games) so far this season.
A true legend of the game!!!
Mbappe:
The french man proved once more why he’s currently one of the best in the game with his superb goal in their win against Celta Virgo.
So, Mbappe has now scored his 8th goal for Real Madrid since joining them this season. And six (6) of these goals was scored in Ligue games.
Vinicius Jr:
He was equally on the score sheet during the game against Celta Virgo with Real Madrid’s second goal in the same.
So far he has scored 5 goals and made 6 assists for the club this season in 10 La Liga matches he has played so far.
Alejandro Garnacho:
He scored one goal on Saturday following Man United’s 2-1 defeat against Brentford as the EPL resumed after the international break.
The Argentinian winger has scored twenty (20) goals so far since he joined Manchester United in October 2020, but made his debut in the senior team in April 2022 against Chelsea.
William Saliba:
He caused Arsenal a big and painful upset on Saturday following his red card in the first half for fouling Bournemouth’s Evanilson.
It was a straight red card as he was the last man, so Arsenal went down to 10 men and eventually lost the game 2-0 including conceding a silly penalty.
Well, the good news for the club is that he won’t be serving three match ban because of the premier league rule, which stipulates that a foul committed by the last man (player) is just one match ban.
will miss the next game against Liverpool (H) due to red card today vs Bournemouth.
DANNY WELBECK:
Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker, Danny Welbeck has now made one hundred (100) goal contributions for the English Premier League, EPL, since making his debut.
His first half goal condemned New Castle United to their first defeat since January this year. The ex England international has now scored five goals in eight games for Brighton this season.
Seventy two (72) premier league goals for him and twenty eight (28) assists as well. Unfortunately, he was carried on a stretcher towards the end of the game as he appeared to have injured his back.
