While the drama surrounding the ill-fated marriage of Davido’s aide, Israel DMW and his estranged wife, Sheila Courage continue to see the light of the day, we have decided to look at some similarities between his marriage and that of music star, Tiwa Savage and his estranged husband, Tee Billz.

Let’s look at the two most expensive wedding ceremonies in the entertainment/music industry that crashed too quick, regardless of all the millions invested in these marriages.

TIWA SAVAGE/TEE BILLZ:

This was one of the most talked about marriages back then, mostly because of the lavish wedding ceremony the couple staged in Dubai in April 2014. Great personalities from all walks of life travelled from around the world to attend the wedding ceremony in Dubai, including persons like Don Jazzy, Toke Makinwa, Seyi Shay, and many others.

The white wedding ceremony which took place at the famous and luxurious Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa, Dubai, was all over the internet, with many people wishing they were either at the event or will ever be able to stage such quality of wedding ceremony. While they were wishing and tapping in our usual lifestyle, unknown to them that the marriage was destined to be short-lived.

It was like all the glitz and glamour associated with the wedding ceremony took away everything that would have made the marriage last beyond the break of a new dawn. Yes, shortly after, the marriage started witnessing headache which eventually led to the total collapse of the marriage in 2018.

I wish you understand the amount of money invested in this marriage, then you would have understood why money can not make a marriage to work.

ISRAEL DMW/SHEILA COURAGE:

This one will sure be fresh in the memories of most people. But just like that of Tiwa Savage and Tunji Balogun A.K.A Tee Billz, this was another marriage which gulped a huge amount of money, yet couldn’t see the light of the day.

In as much as Israel’s wedding ceremony took place in Nigeria, it was such a huge event that had in attendance one of the biggest music stars around, in the person of Davido, and was there with his beautiful wife, Chioma Rowland AKA Chef Chi. Others in attendance include music star Zlatan Ibile, Cubana Chiefpriest, and several other big names including members of Davido’s 30 Billion Gang family.

The wedding ceremony was serenaded with real money because the attendees are all wealthy and spends lavishly. In fact, it was a rain of money on that day, not talking yet about the traditional marriage as well. Unfortunately, this happened to be worse than that of Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz, as the marriage crashed about a year after it was legally contracted.

Marriage of 2022 crashed in 2023, regardless of all the money and personalities that characterized the marriage ceremonies. Which has continued to pop up the question, “what then is needed to have a working and successful marriage?”.

Many people have always argued about what is truly the ingredients that makes marriage last. And while the argument rages, some believe that with enough money that it will be hard for a marriage to crash, on the ground that the money/wealth will be the attraction that binds the couple together. In other words, the man or woman will be attracted to the money in the marriage, hence making it difficult for him or her to walk out of the union.

Unfortunately, different events have actually proven all such insinuations absolutely wrong, as it has not been able to prove that such idea is key in having peaceful and successful marriages, hence we wouldn’t have had some of the failed marriages we witness, especially in recent years.

In as much as everything in life requires money, especially marriage, but it has been proven time after time that wealth is not what will make your marriage to work. It is your commitment, input and dedication to that your marriage that will make it work.

The money you invested to have the best wedding/marriage ceremonies is just to earn your bragging rights in the public, friends, family, colleagues, etc, and not inside your marriage. That’s why you see marriages of people with mean resources thriving against all financial odds, and other obstacles in its way.

Yes, people have to understand the two sides to these matter. In other words, while you are busy investing all that money on marriage ceremonies, remember also to invest in the things that will make your marriage work.

Social Media and public validation, basically on the quality of the wedding ceremony you staged is not what will make your marriage work, because after all that funfair everyone returns to their habitat, you are left with your spouse. And that’s were your marriage starts its journey officially, and none of the attendees of your wedding ceremony will be there with you to direct things, it is you and your partner alone.

A word is enough for the wise!
