It was yet another moment to remember the unfortunate incident that claimed lives of some of their members who died while hustling for their daily bread…
Members of the South East chapter of Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, took to the street to mourn their deceased members who died in controversial circumstances on April 10, 2024, following a boat mishap in Anam, Anambra state.
They held a candlelight procession into the night, across streets of Enugu state. They came out in their large numbers to honour and mourn their fallen members, including Obumneme Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope. Others include a makeup artist identified as Abigail Fredrick, who hails from Akwa-Ibom State, then Promise who’s said to be a sound engineer, and few others.
Below are some of the photos from their candlelight procession…
So far this year, the Nollywood industry has lost a couple of its high profile members, including veteran actors, Mr. John Okafor, A.K.A Mr. Ibu, Mr. Amechi Mounagour, and some others. And just recently, they lost 39 year old Junior Pope.
His death threw the nation into a mourning mood, with many questioning what’s actually happening in Nollywood. While no one could lay hands on any authentic information on the above question, some believed that the industry needs spiritual cleansing.
While no date has been fixed for the burial of Junior Pope, Abigail Fredrick and some others have since been buried in their home towns, while June 28, 2024 has been fixed for the funeral ceremony on Mr. Ibu. No information about the burial arrangements for Mr. Amaechi Mounagor has been released or made public.
