Without mincing words, I think it is on record already that Nigerians may have assumed the position the most difficult people on earth, especially when it comes to satisfying them.
This was on display once again following the recent gesture from Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, during the graduation ceremony of students of Adeleke University, were he offered immediate employment opportunity to graduates with first class engineering degree.
They are to take up positions available in Pacific Energy, owned by their benefactor. But in our usual manner, we refused to see the good deed of Dr. Adedeji Adeleke as worthy of praise and appreciation, rather, it is to pick unnecessary faults in the gesture that became our immediate reaction.
Some claimed that the gesture will only force other students to seek illegal mean to get the first class, another said it is just for clout chasing as it might be a position for one person that’s needed in the end. Others blamed him for limiting the opportunity to only those with first class, questioning what then happens to others with lower grades.
Frankly, you can only but sigh and shake your head in pity, for the kind of people we have here. People who must always see fault in everything around them, yet they complain the most and hardly seen helping anyone in their lives.
What exactly do we Nigerians want? We complain that there’s no enough encouragement for school people, unlike we see in the entertainment industry, etc. Now, our clamour is being attended to in a positive manner, yet we are still lamenting.
What do we really want in this country, I ask again?
