Few days ago, some set of Nollywood Actresses, actors and crew members were robbed at gun in Asaba, Delta State Nigeria, around 3am.

According to actress Juliet Njemanze who gave account of the incident, they were shooting a living room scene and suddenly there were bangs on the entrance door. After series of events, it turned out to be robbers who had came to rob them on set.

While they did everything possible to prevent them from gaining access into the room, including the males in the room using the couch and other available items to wage against the door, but it all proved abortive as the gun wielding robbers later gained entrance to the room.

Overwhelmed with fears and panic, some of them went into prayer session, for divine intervention and protection.

Immediately they came in, they started demanding for and collecting cash (money), mobile phones and other valuables. Those who refused to provide password to their phones were subjected to further torture and tormenting.

Veteran actress Frances Nsonwu Ikoroha, popularly known as Dorcas was among those robbed. Some of the younger female actress queued behind as they feared for the worse.

Many people who have reacted to the incident have advised filmmakers to be cautious of their lives while doing their job, especially filmming late into the night, shooting in an unsecured environment, amongst others.

Meanwhile, it has been a regular practice in Nollywood for them to throw caution to the wind in the course of chasing their dreams and doing their job. I have been in that industry for years, and I know first hand how things are done there.

Most times we finish shooting around 1-3am, and start driving back to the hotel, with no form of security. We take all sorts of risks doing that films, and it is extremely dangerous. And do you know what? All these is just to round up the production as fast as we can, hence everything else is inconsequential, including the life and safety of the artists, crew members and co.
