The kind of stories our ears are exposed to on a daily in this our country is beyond what one can actually comprehend well at times. The heartlessness in some people is a case study for professors in the universities.
Well, we came across this story, of a certain lady whose name is Queen, who is from Kogi State. She revealed that prior to her marriage in 2023, that she has been into a serious relationship with this guy from Taraba, John.
They started dating from 2018, and were known around their place as lovers. In fact, she said that most people were already calling them husband and wife, because of how they carried their relationship.
Meanwhile, they have agreed to marry each other, which she and John said that in 2024, they will kickoff every arrangement about their marriage. This was to enable him save up enough money as a truck driver with 7up bottling company.
Something then happened along the line, in 2022, she met this guy on Facebook, his name is Fred, who lives in Canada, working there as a forklift operator. One thing led to another till they became so tight and already had strong feelings for each other.
“we use to do lots of video calls, share nude photos and videos together. Though this is only possible whenever John has gone to work coz we lived together at Aba,” Queen disclosed.
Added, “he do send me money always. Of which I do tell my boyfriend here that it was my elder in Port Harcourt who sends me money coz he often wonders how I get all that kind of money.
He knows that my elder brother is doing well financially, and he is often there when I do calls with him, asking him for money as well. So he had no reason to doubt the money wasn’t from my brother”.
Meanwhile, she and her Canada based new catch had already talked about marriage, as he took was single. Though she agreed to marry him, but how to discharge John became the big task before her.
She said she wouldn’t want to quit him just like that, especially as he has been good to her, and on the other hand, she can’t afford to miss out on marrying Fred, who is rich seemingly her escape route out of poverty.
Fred had told her he will be visiting Nigeria later in the year (2023) to perform her marital rites. She has just few months to perfect her plans.
That was how she came up with the idea of lying to John that her womb was damaged that she can’t ever be pregnant. That it happened when she got pregnant in her previous relationship and went for an abortion.
She bled for days as result, and when they visited a hospital, after her treatment the doctor informed her that her womb has been damaged from the abortion she attempted. The story hit John so hard, he cried for days.
Meanwhile, being the only child of his parents, it was practically impossible for his people to accept such a woman without a womb as their son’s wife. And himself wasn’t ready to take such chance either.
After all the back and forth, they decided to go their separate ways. He even gave her money to go rent an apartment for herself, and money to start up something. This was from the money he had saved up for their marriage ceremonies, including white wedding.
Few months after, precisely some time in November, Fred returned to Nigeria. He invited Queen to the hotel he lodged. They spent close to a week together there, during which they had been discussing and planning about their marriage, which according to her, was why he came back to Nigeria.
After few days at the hotel, Fred then left for his village, to perfect other things, towards their marriage before he returns to Canada. They kept in touch for up to five days, after which his numbers stopped going through, and all her messages to him, both on social were never replied.
He eventually blocked her on WhatsApp and Facebook, which is were they had often used in communicating, especially while he was outside.
She became increasingly worried, in fact she was gradually loosing her mind as result. Well, days turned into week, weeks turned into month and nothing from Fred. To make matter worse, she doesn’t even know his village.
She then used her friend’s Facebook to search for Fred, what she saw was more than enough to have given her an instant heart attack; Fred had shared photos from his traditional marriage with his wife. It was like a dream to her as she couldn’t believe her eyes. Which means he only visited Nigeria to marry his originally meant to be wife!
Queen was shattered and broken. She became sick for weeks. It was a hell for her during that period, and she never thought she could have survived it. Though according to her, she still suffers pains in her heart till date.
Unfortunately, she can’t even go back to John again. She said he moved out of their former place, and wasn’t using his former phone number. John never used social media as he wasn’t educated.
Her world practically crashed before her eyes, courtesy of her doings.
“It was such an ugly experience that I can’t even wish my worse enemy. I knew what I went through, my being alive today is just the grace of God, nothing else,” she said, with her eyes clouded with tears.
