The news of the unfortunate death of one of the finest talent and entertainers in this part of the world, Junior Pope Odonwodo, is still hovering around like a bad midnight dream, which makes you hieve a sigh of relief at dawn, finding out it was a mere dream.
But it’s so unfortunate we have been hit with a terrible reality, that our beloved brother is no more with us. And we have got some interesting facts about the deceased which most people did not know about him, while he was alive.
EARLY LIFE:
Known on screen as Junior Pope, the actor and fashion lover has his full name as Pope Obumneme Odonwodo. He hails from Ukehe, in Nsukka part of Enugu state, in the South Eastern Nigeria.
Born on the 7th day of May 1984, in the Bamenda region of Cameroon, and equally raised up there, by his lovely parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luke Odonwodo. The late actor equally schooled in the same Bamenda in Cameroon, where he completed both his primary and secondary education, before deciding to come back to Nigeria.
After relocating to Nigeria, he enrolled into the famous University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, Enugu state. There he studied Accountancy and acquired his Bachelor Degree.
CAREER:
On 2006, the young and ambitious Junior Pope joined the glamorous Nigeria movie industry, Nollywood, and playing mostly role of Palace guard, servant, and others. Then the following year, 2007, he acted in the movie “Secret Adventures” by veteran Nollywood movie director, Tchidi Chikere.
It was the movie which shot him into limelight and paved way for him in Nollywood, and he never stopped thanking and appreciating Tchidi Chikere for the opportunity that turned his career around. Since then, he has gone on to feature in dozens of movies for Nollywood, working with the best in the industry.
The actor has equally won a couple of awards, accolades and recognition in the industry, which includes the 2010 Award at the Entertainment Factory Award for the “Most Promising Actor” in Nollywood.
FAMILY:
Just as though he was aware that death will come calling early, Junior Pope got married early in life as well.
Meanwhile, he found his missing rib in a beautiful woman, Jennifer Awele Okponu, and they tied the knot in July of 2014. The couple had one of the most beautiful, happy and enviable marriage anyone could ever wish for. Their marriage is already blessed with three lovely children, and he doesn’t joke with his kids for any reason.
DEATH:
Sadly, death came calling early as Junior Pope left the world on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, while hustling for his daily bread on a movie set in Asaba Delta State. He was involved in a boat accident which claimed some other lives, and the incident was trailed with series of drama.
At a point, it was though he has successfully cheated death and everyone was celebrating. But soon after, it was confirmed that he has actually left us. The social media space has practically been littered with news, photos and videos surrounding his death, with millions of people mourning his death.
Aged 39. April 10, 2024, is just a day no one will ever wish to remember. A dark Wednesday indeed! May God almighty grant your beautiful soul eternal rest, Amen!
