Veteran Nigerian music producer, songwriter and record producer Samklef Noni has come for those who have failed to give him his deserved flowers as he has contributed so much to the Nigerian music industry.
Visibly pained at the level of insults and disrespect he gets online over his frequent clashes with some top music stars in the country, mostly from their fans, he took to his Instagram page to reflect on his journey in the music industry alongside Wizkid. While equally taking a swipe at those benefiting from the highly lucrative Afrobeats music genre, and failing to mention his name as one of those who opened the way for others.
He shared a throwback picture with Wizkid while working on a new music project back then, as a way to proving to doubters of how much far he has actually come in the music industry, bragging about paving the way for what most musicians in the industry are enjoying today, especially those benefiting from Afrobeat. Yet, they are not giving him his deserved flowers.
“To the new born children that don’t have respect for history ask Wizkidayo who is Samklef? Have any of you see Wizkid come out in public to disrespect me?
When we started this game there was no resources. We broke the rules you all are enjoying today. Now everyone is shouting Afrobeats. The billion dollar industry,” part of his post reads.
He then talked about how he doesn’t need any accolade from anyone, as he has his back covered fully well by himself.
“I don’t need all your flowers, I have planted mine and Dem don grow,” he further bragged.
On the other hand, Wizkid and Samklef were actually a powerful force back then, as you are likely seeing the duo together then. Samklef was a good and talented music producer and songwriter in the early days when Wizkid was still trying to stamp his feet in the industry.
He produced a couple of hit tracks for Wizkid in his early days in the industry, in fact, he played a vital role in the success story of Wizkid as a musician. Unfortunately, the duo fell apart years ago due to irreconcilably differences, and as such, they moved on with their lives separately.
