Burna Boy recently stirred up mixed reactions from people over his indirectly shading Davido for not being a Grammy awards winner like himself. Well, that very remark has continued to attract barrage of attacks on him, with many reminding him of several big musicians who hasn’t won the now controversial Grammys, yet that hasn’t in any way devalued their status.
In the same manner, social media personality and critic, Daniel Regha has tackled the self acclaimed African Giant for his remark. Daniel in a post berated Burna, reminding him that regardless of Davido not winning the Grammy awards, that he’s still a bigger artiste than Burna Boy. Further, he stated that the said Grammys is worthless in recent times as people are rumoured to win it via connections with the organizers.
He reminded Burna Boy that even the only Grammy awards in his cabinet is rumoured to be influenced by the President of Badboy Entertainment, Diddy. In other words, that he did not actually won the award coz he merited it but because of Daddy’s influence and connection. He then told Burna that he has equally gotten a total of 10 Grammy nominations, and only managed to win it once.
Well, the fact remains that awards is not the ultimate criteria in determining who is a better musician or singer, and awards could go anyone’s way at any given time. But on the other hand, it is not necessary that we continue to live in this world of unending controversies of comparison, if it’s not between Wizkid and Davido today, it between Burna Boy and Davido tomorrow.
Well, in as much as such may not be easily separated from the music industry, I think we should equally slow down on how we fight each other over this issue. Yes, because if you see some of the comments many people have made regards all these issues, then you will see the danger in it, coz it might soon escalate beyond just social media war of words, and drag into the street and become brutal and bloody.
