Kemi Olunloyo and controversies seems to have one of the best marital unions in the world, and as such, never scared of the outcome of whatever controversy she decides to get involved in. Well, she has rebooked the intention of ever being like late Dora Akunyili while announcing her recent presidential appointment.
Kemi via her social media handle, announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed her to lead the fight against drug abuse in the country. Though she recently relocated to the United States of America, but in the post, revealed that after speaking with Mr. President, that she has agreed to return to Nigeria to join the fight against drug abuse amongst the youths.
“I have been appointed the Special Adviser to the President on Drug Abuse Education. Myself and Mr President will commission the office of Drug Abuse Education which will work side by side with the NDLEA once I’m cleared by the Senate,” part of her post reads.
While the post has expectedly sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians, one of the comments wished her to be the next late Dora Akunyili of the next generation, of which Kemi quickly rebooked it. She cited that the late NAFDAC boss corrupt.
“Come and see me rolling on the floor rejoicing. I pray it remain permanent. You’re the next Dora Akunyili of the next generation,” @alexpapi_1013 wrote.
“God forbid, I will never be the next Dora Akunyili o. She was corrupt,” Kemi Olunloyo retorted while replying the comment above.
Recall that late Dora Akunyili was once time the Director General of the National Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC. During her tenure, she fought against fake and counterfeit drugs across the country, which earned her uncountable accolades, recognitions and awards, home and abroad.
Prior to her appointment as NAFDAC boss by then President Olusegun Obasanjo, the country was a dumping ground for fake and counterfeit drugs and medicine, and other household products. But she ensured that the country breathed a sigh of relief in that regards, which attracted a lot of attacks, assassination attempts, etc, to her. Yet, she remained determined to do her job.
It was during her reign that the agency introduced the famous NAFDAC number, which is a mark for the genuineness of any product in the country, as such, certifying such products safe for consumption or other form of usage.
