Ohemaa Mercy, who is a popular Ghanaian gospel singer, recently stirred up mixed reactions across social media platforms with her revelation about her marriage.
She shocked millions when she revealed how and why she ended her marriage over her evangelical work.
Married to one Mr. Twum-Ampofo, she talked about the situation that led to the crash of her marriage during a candid interview with Cookie Tee on TV3, she revealed that it was God that instructed her to end her marriage with her husband.
According to her, she stated that being a person so passionate about doing God’s work, that marriage was going to distract her a lot from working in the Lord’s vineyard, which prompted her to ending her marriage so as to enable her concentrate fully on her call to serve in God’s vineyard.
In her exact words, “didn’t just get up one day and decide to divorce my husband. I took it to God in prayer. I was committed to doing the Lord’s work, and I knew marriage was somewhat going to hinder it. So I sought His permission and approval before deciding to divorce him“.
Further, she revealed that their divorce is without bitterness and grudges as it was done with mutual consent; both agreed to it.
“We came to a mutual agreement about going our separate ways, and he agreed,” she added.
