Just few days ago, news broke out about the death of a certain Nollywood actor and Producer identified as Henry Asonna.

Information from Champions News and from the Instagram page of another Nollywood personality, Stanley Ontop reveals the young man was killed during a gun battle with police. He was Reportedly killed alongside his gang members (kidnappers) following a failed kidnap operation in the state.

Lagos State Command spokesman, SP Benhamin Hundeyin had during a press conference, revealed how the Lagos State Police command had received a credible intelligence about the daredevil gang planning a serious operation targeting high profile individuals in the state.

Upon that, the commissioner of police in Lagos State, CP Fayode gave an order, for the command’s tactical teams to sweep into action immediately. They had to gather more information about the potential operations of the kidnap gang, of which one of them was slated for last week, precisely on Thursday, at Ladipo area of Lagos State.

The group were caught unaware by the already prepared police officers, leading to a serious gun battle as the criminals wouldn’t give up easily.

It was then that about nine of them, including the said Nollywood actor and Producer, Henry Asonna were neutralized (killed), while two managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered during the operation include 4 AK-47 riffles, one POS machine, 4 locally made semi automatic pistols, about 3 walkie talkie, 9 AK-47 magazines and other items.

About The Deceased:

He owned a movie production known as Asonrich Movies with movie credit to his name like My Half New, My Half, Blind Blood Full, Love At The Pool, and several others.

REACTIONS:

Several persons have continued to react to the unfortunate story, with Yul Edochie coming out to distance himself from the deceased. He maintained that it was a movie job that he did for Henry Asonna production as he has done for other movie productions and nothing more.

On his part, Stanley Ontop lamented the fact that Henry Asonna came into the Industry with his cursed money only to give the Industry a bad name. Further, he said he had wished he didn’t die so quick, so that he would have been faced with adequate disgrace before his eventual death.

Without mincing words, we have seen an influx of money bags into Nollywood in recent years, people with no trace of how they made their money. They just rush into the Industry and start hiding under the cloak of actors, producers and co.

Hopefully this will bring about the desired change in the industry, were people are not just allowed to walk into the Industry at will, without proper screening and assessment of their persons and background.
