As the burial ceremony of late Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu draws closer, family and friends of the deceased have gone publicly to solicit for funds to give the late actor a befitting funeral ceremony.

Recall that the burial ceremony of the actor has long been slated for June 28, 2024, and now a GoFundMe account has officially been set up to gather money to facilitate the burial of the deceased.

Meanwhile, in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Monday Diamond; Secretary, Central Planning Committee, Christy Ejiofor; and the President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, revealed how all the money initially raised for the actor was consumed in the course of treating him. Hence the reason they have resorted to the public once again to help raise funds to bury him.

“The Central Planning Committee of Late John Okafor (family and friends) solicit financial support from the general public to help them execute a successful burial for the late Nollywood legend,” part of the statement reads as curled from Punch Newspapers.

Meanwhile, sometime in May 2024, prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin donated the sum of five million (N5,000,000) to the late actor’s family, just to support his burial ceremony.

Recall that Mr. Ibu had one of his leg amputated while being treated at the Evercare Hospital in Lekki Lagos State. He had suffered diabetes and other health complications, resulting in his death on March 2, 2024 following a cardiac arrest.
