The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has warned that foreign mercenaries are involved in the much anticipated nationwide protest scheduled to kickoff on 1st of August 2024, across the nation.
He equally said they’re those promoting peaceful protest but with violent undertones, with the intention to replicate the sort of protest witnessed in Kenya, which has led to loss of lives and destruction of unquantifiable properties.
He commended those who have withdrawn from the said protest, or those who have spoken out against such protest at a time like this in nation’s life, which enemies of the country are allegedly planning to capitalize on to unleash mayhem in the country.
The IGP then warned people to be careful with whatever protest they are joining as any protest at this time, be it peaceful or otherwise, is ill timed as those with sinister motives are planning to wreck havoc during the protest.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians have continued to react to the persistent energy being channeled by the government to ensure the protest never see the light of the day.
Hence why people are of the opinion that if government have often given this level of attention to issues in the country, that we would have gone far more than what we are today.

Without mincing words, government seems to be having sleepless nights over the planned nationwide protest, as though they are so afraid of something that isn’t too known to the public.
