When the news about the completion of the Dangote Refinery first broke out, Nigerians were jubilating all over the place, on the ground that both the era of fuel scarcity and heartbreaking prices of petroleum products will be a thing of the past. Little did they know their mystery adventure just get started!
Well, if wishes were horses even beggars will definitely ride, I hope you are aware of that? Unfortunately, it is not and beggars won’t either ride it, and that’s the situation Nigerians eventually found themselves in the end.
Even when the drama between Dangote Refinery and NNPCL was ongoing, many Nigerians spoke out in millions of voices in support of Dangote Refinery, with the hope that they will be compensated with a reduced fuel price in the end of the battle, what a day dreaming!
First of all, it is so funny that Nigerians were deceived and fooled when they started thinking that a core capitalist was putting up a business to help the poor in the manner that best suits their hearts? Lol. Well, in the end it was just about the numbers, and no one is running a petroleum foundation, aimed at elevating the plights of the poor masses.
So far, since the so called controller general of petroleum products in the country, NNPCL, started lifting petroleum products from Dangote refinery, what have you noticed? Even from some Nigerian elites, it is all about ending queues and fuel scarcity in the country and there’s practically nothing that suggests pricing advantage or benefit for Nigerians.
Even a lay man is aware that once the price of fuel in the country drops, it will have a significant chain reactions across all boards; it lead to instant reduction in the general prices of goods and services, and the overall cost of living.
But will they ever do that to favour you and your lives? No! Do you know why? Because it’s a game that is being played here with your lives, and poverty is their greatest weapon of controlling you.
Yes, that’s why you see them quick to share palliatives like rice, noodles, inconsequential cash, etc, in the name of palliatives, whenever they sensed that the hardship is about causing chaos in the land. And you know what, many people in the country will still show up to struggle for these palliatives and still go home and relax their frayed temper.
The country is already structured to be like this, and that’s why nothing changes even with the emergence of another President.
Ask yourself, why has your refineries failed to start refining petroleum products after years of moribund? In spite all the funds that has been pushed in to make them work and after several failed promises from date to another? Yet nothing has changed. It is still the same game plan at play, and even if they eventually start functioning today, nothing will still change, mark these words today!
And neither the coming of Dangote Refinery will solve that problem, with or without landing cost, whether buying crude in dollar or Naira, it will still be the same thing.
Yes, remember that it is still the same Government that fixes prices of petroleum products in the country, NNPCL is the sole distributor of petroleum products from Dangote refinery. So use your brain to do the maths.
I’m not putting the issues on Dangote Refinery, no, it is just the system that has continued to be the devil in town, and corrupting every innocent soul out there, including forcefully initiating them into their evil cult.
