While she may have found sufficient solace and favour in the hands of her country men and women, following her unfortunate experience as one of the contestants at the recently concluded Miss South Africa pageantry.
But there’s still ongoing argument and debate as to the true origin and roots of Chidimma Venessa Onwe Adetishina in Igbo land. Which what we are gonna address in this article.
Chidimma Venessa Onwe, is a native of Amuri, same town with late veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor (Mr. Ibu). Meanwhile, Amuri is in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu state.
On the other hand, she’s the daughter of a bonafide Igbo man identified as Chief Okechukwu Onwe, who equally hailed from Amuri. And her mother is a Mozambican/South African citizen who is married to Chidimma’s father, an Igbo man.
So, this debate and speculations as to where’s her origin and roots in Nigeria and by extension in Igbo land, should permanently be laid to rest. She’s a bonafide citizen of Nigeria, and true Igbo blood, her names shouldn’t confuse you any longer.
And for those questioning why she’s representing Taraba State in the 2024 edition of Miss Universe Nigeria organized by Silverbird Communications, it is part of the rules and regulations of the pageantry, were contestants can represent any state in the country.
You can as well take a good look at the other contestants, you will find out that some of them are representing states that they are not originally from. So, it is not only Chidinma who fell into that category.
On the other hand, recall that she pulled out of the 2024 edition of Miss South Africa pageantry due to severe backlashes on social media, mostly from South Africans, over controversies surrounding her nationality.
Upon her withdrawal, she was eventually invited to participate in this year’s edition of Miss Universe Nigeria and she accepted the offer. Chidinma is currently in the country, Nigeria, participating in Miss Universe Nigeria. This marked her first ever visit to Nigeria in about two decades.
