Catholic Priest Countered By a Rev. Sister For Defending Asake Over His Music Video Allegedly Mocking The Catholic Faith.

The last may not have been heard over the recent controversial music video released by Nigerian Afrobeat star, Ahmed Olobade, popularly known as Asake for the song titled “Only Me”.

Now, a certain Roman Catholic Priest has reacted to the raging controversy, in a manner glaringly depicting his support for what the artist did in the video. On the other hand, his compatriot in the Roman Catholic church, a certain Rev. Sister has openly opposed the position of the Catholic Priest.

Meanwhile, since the release of the video directed by TG Omori few days ago, it has been widely criticized by many people, especially Christians, who view the video as a glaring disrespect to the Christian faith. With Asake seen in the said video dressed in priestly attire, and equally performing some priestly activities like dramatizing the eucharist, others. It has been described by many as an intentional disrespect towards Christianity.

According to the priest identified by his social media handle as Fada Kay Media, he claimed that the vessels, vestments and other Catholic attires used in the said video are not blessed, as such, urged people to take a chill pill, and stop being too emotionally attached to things that doesn’t really matter that much. He reminded those attacking the singer that all these things are mere costumes, and wondered anyone should be angry over that.

Part of the post reads, “why should you be angry over that? Maybe God should strike him dead already so that some of you can have peace, abi?”

Meanwhile, many people on his page openly expressed opposing views over his stand on the matter, with some urging him to stop encouraging such glaring disrespect towards Christianity. On the other hand, some tackled him on the ground that, could they do same about Islam.

In reaction to that, he wrote, “who do some christians keep using the line, “can you try this with Islam?” Accept your religion for what it is”.

In reaction, a certain Roman Catholic Rev. Sister identified as Srchukwu Janefrances wrote, “For me whether costume or not, this is wrong. Why didn’t he make use of the Muslims costumes? This is wrong period”.

Continuing, she added, “tomorrow another one will come out with other vestments and we will say they’re not blessed. This is wrong. Catholic should know their right”.
