Recall few days ago, a certain Nigerian woman, Amaka Patience Sunnberger who is based in Canada stirred up serious reactions across social media platforms following a disgusting video she made on TikTok, in which she threatened to kill Edo and Yoruba people, equally urging others to do same.
While they have been lots of call for her to be sanctioned, including deporting her back to Nigeria, she seems unfazed by all that, even as the Nigerian Government through its agencies have waded into the matter.
According to her, there’s no possibility of her facing deportation as she already has her Canadian passport.
“Somebody just sent me a message saying they have arrested me and are about to deport me. With my passport? I am a Canadian. Mad people,” she bragged in another TikTok video.
While she has since deleted the controversial video, she seems to be overwhelmed with ethnic hatred, as she is yet to offer any sort of apology or remorse for her post.
On the other hand, The Director General of the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has waded into the matter, while Nigerian law makers, the House of Representatives have equally petitioned the Canadian government over the issue.
While many people, especially Nigerians are eagerly awaiting what becomes of the case, particularly on the side of the Canadian government. Unfortunately, there have been series of similar incidents in the country, especially since the 2023 Presidential election.
Yes, even popular figures in the country, like MC Oluomo, Oba of Lagos, the current First Lady of Nigeria, amongst others have been caught on camera making ethnic sentiments that is capable of instigating ethnic crisis. But do you know what, nothing tangible has been done about this individuals till date.
