Chelsea Football Club has finally appointed a new head coach following the exit of Emma Hayes at the end of the just concluded league season.

The London football outfit appointed Sonia Bompastor as their club’s new women’s head coach, following the departure of Emma Hayes, who to take up the job of the United States Women’s national team.

Meanwhile, the 43 year old moves to Chelsea after three years spell with French side Lyon, where she won seven league trophies, including three league titles and the Women’s Champions League in 2022.

Chelsea is delighted to confirm Sonia Bompastor will become Head Coach of the women’s team from the start of 2024/25,” The Club wrote on its official X handle.

She even won her 3rd Division 1 Feminine league trophy in the just ended 2023/2024 league season. But on the other hand, she lost the season’s champions league trophy to Barcelona last Saturday.

She will be assisted by her Assistants Theo Rivirin and Camille Abily. The later played a greater part of her football career at Lyon, where she earned 323 appearances for Lyon and earned 183 national team caps for France, but retired in 2018.
