This is not the best of times for the Nigerian movie industry otherwise known as Nollywood, as the industry has lost not less than three of its legends in a space of two weeks or there about.

While the industry was still mourning the death of John Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu, then veteran movie producer and movie marketer, Andy Best (Akudinanwa) died few days ago in Imo State. And just today, Sunday March 24, 2024, another legend in the industry, in the person of Amaechi Mounagor is reportedly dead.

Recall that the deceased has been bedridden for months now as he battled kidney failure, stroke and series of other heath issues. Several notable personalities have actually embarked on awareness campaigns on social media platforms to raise funds for his adequate treatment, like popular philanthropist Okwuluora, Nollywood actor Kingsley Orji better known as Egbeigwe, and others.

While Kingsley Orji visited him in his home few days ago, Amaechi Mounagor could hardly talk, as his words were incoherent. Kingsley who went on his knees pleaded with the public to quickly come to the aide of the actor, as he needed urgent kidney transplant in India, which will require a huge amount of money.

Unfortunately, the actor couldn’t stay alive to witness the outcome of the public outcrys calling for donations for the sake of his worsening health condition. He has featured in hundreds of Nollywood movies and blockbusters like Ukwa, Aki na Paw featuring Osita Iheme and Chinedu Ikedieze. Others include Igodo, Issakaba, and many others.

May your soul continue to rest in peace 🙏
