In the face of the worsening economic situation and hardship in the country, resulting in the ongoing nationwide demonstration anchored, we have seen the President remain adamant about some of its economic policies that has continued to impact negatively on the Nigerian people.

First, let’s take a look at some of the wasteful adventure of the current regime in the face of all the hardship faced by the Nigerian people, especially the poor masses since the inauguration of this regime on May 29, 2023.

While the current government has repeatedly said they inherited an economy that is in comatose, their financial attitude doesn’t portray same in any way. Rather, they have adopted a lifestyle that tells the story of a rich kid at a night club; spending extravagantly.

An economy that is bleeding with the massive hunger, hardship and high cost of living including all essential human needs, yet the present Government had the guts to lavish an outrageous amount, 21 Billion Naira, just for the renovation of the Residence of the Vice President, Shettima.

Then the regime approved a needless and wasteful request to gift Federal Lawmakers (Senators and House of Reps members) brand new SUVs. Each of the car valued at 160 million Naira each, totalling about 70 Billion Naira.

As though that wasn’t enough, the government approved four billion Naira (4,000,000,000) for the renovation of the Dodan Barracks in Lagos State. Then another three billion Naira (3,000,000,000) for the renovations of the Aguda House.

Then do you remember the so called Presidential Tax Reform Committee? With just less than twenty members as headed by Taiwo Oyedele, well they were reportedly given 5 Billion Naira. That’s the extent of reckless expenditures the current government is synonymous with.

Equally, do you know that we do not have any such office as the First Lady office, constitutionally? But do you know that about 1.5 Billion Naira was budgeted for purchasing official cars for her office. While 5 Billion Naira was on the other hand budgeted for her husband, President Tinubu, to acquire fleet of cars.

In spite the widespread condemnation and protest, the current government still went ahead to award the contract of the controversial Lagos Calabar Coastal Road at the cost of 15 Trillion Naira. Of what economic impact is such project to the country’s ailing economy?

Look at the number of ministers appointed under this government? The highest ever in the history of our country! Duplicating Political positions and offices just to favour their cronies and all that. Yet this a country whose citizens are dying of hunger, hardship, unemployment, lack of balanced diet, and all that.

I do not want to talk about the person who got the contract; allegedly an ally of the president, in the person of one Lebanese man identified Gilbert Chagoury. He has a bad record with the country, to the extent he was repatriated to his country during the regime of President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The government is obviously insensitive to the plights of Nigerians, hence why they keep embarking on useless projects that benefits nothing in the country. Yet they have remained obstinate that the fuel subsidy regime won’t return, but they have enough billions and trillions to be wasting on frivolities?

Okay, the so called funds recovered and saved from the removal of the fuel subsidy, where is the money? What has it been used for that has impacted positively on the lives of the Nigerian people? You are telling us that state governments have been getting increased monthly allocation now, how is it helping us overcome the predicaments of the common man?

Is it not better that the subsidy regime returns, so that we the poor people will know for sure that we are directly benefiting from it, rather than handing over the so called recovered and saved subsidy money to those who will loot and waste it.

We are not talking about the electricity tarrif that has become another source of high blood pressure for millions of people in the country.

Everything about this regime is just to punish and frustrate the poor masses, yet the government has more than enough funds to spend on frivolities, and on projects with no economic value and impact to the country.

Yes, look at the projects we mentioned earlier were they kept lavishing our money on, and educate me on how such will benefit our country?
