Meet Former Real Madrid Star Who’s Now a Fisherman, He Won Several Titles With Ronaldo.

The former Real Madrid super star footballer is now a fisherman, and happily doing what makes him happy…

How many of you still remember Fabio Coentrao? He used to be one of the Read Madrid stars during the era of Cristiano Ronaldo. But now, the former Real Madrid left back has opted for a fishing career.

He played for the Los Blancos between 2011 to 2018, after joining the Spanish giant from Portuguese top flight club, Benfica. He had over one hundred (100) appearances for Real Madrid.

He later retired at the age of 33, both for club and country. This comes after winning about nine (9) major trophies with Ronaldo at Real Madrid, including two Champions League trophies. Though Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane, the two managers he played under, had preferred Brazilian left back, Marcelo, yet Coentrao remained an integral part of the Madrid squad during his time.

On the home front, he was a key player for Portugal between 2009 when he made his debut for his country, to 2017 with 52 caps.

Though his former teammates, Ronaldo and Pepe are still into active football, both for Club and Country, Coentrao is on a different lane of life. He has followed his passion and heart desire, as a fisherman.

He said he is following in the foot step of his dad, who is a huge ocean enthusiast and equally a fisherman. As such Coentrao had acquired his first fishing boat while even still playing for Real Madrid.

“The roots have been here since I was born. My father always had a boat, he was really into fishing. I used to go a lot with my father. I liked it very much,” Coentrao made it known during an interview with The Sun.

Coentrao said that during his active days as a footballer, that he spends most of his holidays in the sea, fishing, just like his dad. That while playing football, that it will surely end one day, and already preparing himself for this new career.

Whenever I had that bit of time off, whenever I was on holiday, my life was… it was the sea, it was fishing. And of course I knew that one day football would end, I would have to take another direction in my life,” he stated.

He made it clear that his joy and happiness comes from this land, the sea, referring to his new career as a fisherman.

My happiness is this land, the sea. And obviously that being so, I want to lead this life,” he said.

He’s said to already has about three ships he works with, with a team of fishermen and others, whose number are close to fifty (50).

He was such a great footballer that several top European clubs needed his services, this include English giant Manchester United. That was around 2013, under the then Manager, David Moyes, but the deal never saw the light of the day.
