The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has announced the capture of one of the most wanted drug barons in the country.
The leader of the drug cartel identified as Alhaji Sulaiman Jimoh, commonly known as Temo, was arrested by NDLEA while in possession of drugs worth billions of Naira, as his shipments were intercepted by the NDLEA.
According to the anti narcotics agency, some of their recent interceptions of the drug baron include 14,524.8 kilograms of Ghana Loud, a strong strain of cannabis sativa, smuggled into Lagos from Ghana in two trucks and a J5 bus intercepted at Ojuelegba area of Lagos in the early hours of Sunday 28th January 2024.
Then another two truck-loads of the same substance weighing 8,852kg intercepted at Eleko beach, Lekki Lagos on 4th May 2023 and 252kg of Loud seized from his enclave in Mushin on Wednesday 26th July 2023.
After years of evading arrest in spite interceptions of some of his shipments, he was eventually tracked down on July 22, 2024 at his hideout in Igbarere Street, Mushin Lagos State. The arrest wasn’t easy as there was a serious gun battle between men of NDLEA and that of the drug baron.
REACTIONS.
Many people have been reacting to the news, with most people lamenting on the damage drugs has done to our youths. Some others are of the opinion that he will soon be released as usual, as it is not the first time he has been arrested, and still got released.
