The story and life history of Bianca Onoh (Bianca Odimegwu Ojukwu) is not new to most of us, but there are certain things about the former Beauty Queen which many people are not privy to.
Recall she won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN, in 1989, being the Nigerian version of the “Miss Continental”. But a few months afterwards, something strange happened; Bianca relinquished the crown without completing her tenure.
This was as a result of the story of her relationship with her late husband, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who was a popular and powerful political figure at that period.
Meanwhile, both Bianca and Ojukwu never came out to either deny nor confirm their relationship, until the duo got married sometime in the year 1994, in one of the most lavished and highly celebrated wedding ceremonies ever.
On the other hand, while the rumours about their relationship became rife and different stories flying around, the Organizers of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN pageantry, Silverbird reportedly were not happy with Bianca. This is because they do not condone the situation were their reigning beauty queen is associated with a high profile relationship or love affairs.
The pressure became too much along the line, as such, including the fact that her father, Chief C.C Onoh was seriously fighting against his daughter’s relationship/love affairs with Ojukwu, who has a huge age difference with his daughter Bianca.
Along the line, at the heat of all these drama, she decided to drop the crown, citing that she found it extremely hard to manage her duties as a pageant queen at that period.
The crown was then handed over to the first runner-up, who happened to be veteran Nollywood actress, Regina Askia. She went on to complete the tenure of Bianca Onoh as the reigning Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN, for the 1987 edition.
