Reacting to the comment made by the Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, he wrote, “the LGBTQ community is highly united and powerful globally. If you touch one, you touch all, even in countries where it’s illegal. I wish the Nigerian police the best of the best”.

Meanwhile, in January 2014 the then Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan signed into the law, the same-sex Prohibition bill. The law then stipulates 14 years jail sentence for anyone who enters into a same-sex marriage, 10 years jail term for those or institutions who are part of the said marriage, and 10 years jail term for those who come out publicly to identify themselves as such, and others, including registering it as an organization, opening gay club, which includes those who are their supporters.

Though the law came under severe criticism from some people, especially the western countries and the LGBTQ community, but till date the law is still in existence.
