Few hours ago, news broke out that there was an alleged attempt on the life of the husband of popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie, in Edo state, just few hours to the much anticipated Governorship election in the State.
Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie who is a federal lawmaker representing the Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in Edo State in the House of Representatives, was said to have been attacked on Friday September 20, 2024 by some armed men, who dressed like police officers.
Who were suspected to be political thugs working on behalf of the opposition camp.
The incident which is said to have taken place at his residence in Uromi on Friday morning September 20, was revealed by his media assistant, Michael Ihaza. But revealed that the security agents intervened and foiled the assassination attempt on his principal.
Following the intervention of security operatives, some of the boys escaped, while two was apprehended, including their driver, and that they are being interrogated by the police in the state.
According to the statement released by Okojie’s media aide, Michael Ihaza, “the suspects have so far made a confessional statement stating that they were sent on the mission by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Esan North East Local Government Area“.

Many people have continued to react to the story, with many of them doubting the story, on the ground that it is just another political game plan to attract sympathy votes for APC.
