Nicki Minaj has come so hard on her industry colleague and fellow rapper, Jay-Z over his decision to chose Kendrick Lamar to headline next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Nicki is not happy that Jay-Z overlooked her former record label boss, Lil Wayne and rather settled for Kendrick Lamar to headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
Lil Wayne used to be her boss at Cash Money, and equally her mentor and friend. And with Jay-Z being in charge of the selection of the headliner for the show, Nicki Minaj and others have since criticized Jay-Z for neglecting Lil Wayne, who is a native of the venue of the show, New Orleans.
The National Football League, Apple Music and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation recently announced Kendrick Lamar to headline the prestigious Show for the 2025 Super Bowl edition, billed to be hosted in New Orleans, Lil Wayne’s home town.
She accused Jay-Z of only punishing Lil Wayne because of the age long hatred he has for her (Nicki Minaj), for Birdman and Drake.
In a series of posts on her official X account on Monday September 9, 2024, Nicki Minaj blasted Jay-Z over the issue; “denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego. Your hatred for Birdman, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne? Lil Wayne! The GOAT! Nola, what’s good?”
Continuing she said, “Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out. A white man. Sht sad. House ngger timz. but it’s good fi dem! No loyalty? Welp. then n*ggaz will keep son’ing you!”
She equally recounted how Lil Wayne has contributed to the industry and to the growth of hip-hop, and how he has helped some other music talents and careers to rise to the top in the industry, including Drake and herself.
Then wondered why such a great name like Jay-Z should continue to be spiteful and evil, despite having everything money could possibly afford.
